I've been wanting to share my menstrual cup experience. Men, run away. This post is not for you. 😂
Anyway, I gave up organic pads two years ago, and the experience has been fantastic! I've saved so much money and don’t have to search for nontoxic pads. Organic pads ran between $15.00 to $20.00 a month.
I got a BPA-free, non-toxic cup set with a cleaner and steamer, plus a cute little carrier. They are easy to use and comfortable! I will never return to pads, let alone tampons.
What’s the benefit? Besides savings!?
1. Avoid harmful chemicals that disrupt hormones, cause reactions and dryness.
2. Less waste -240 tampons or pads per year won’t go into landfills.
3. More hygienic and safe- Staphylococcus bacteria risk- From prolonged exposure, known as toxic shock syndrome.
4. Menstrual cups have less odor.
5. More comfortable. A cup encircles your cervix without actually pressing on it. Tampons, on the other hand, press on the cervix and can cause more discomfort. In my experience, I noticed fewer cramps using the cup.
6. Can be worn for up to 12 hours and easily cleaned after every use. Size 1 and size 2 of the Diva cup, the large Lena cup, and the large Eva cup all hold 30 ml. The smaller cups have more fluid than one tampon!
7. Disks are also available, and I’ve heard some people prefer those over the cups.
Make sure to clean the cup/ disk properly. 🌿
